METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR BUILDING UP VEHICLE TRACTION Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; high-speed air-cushion trains. SUBSTANCE: air flow is passed through stationary vanes installed over entire length of guide path, and circulation of air flow is created through variable- section ring channel with slot to pass stationary vanes. Air flow is accelerated before slot and is directed at angle to vehicle motion line, and pressure of air flow after slot is partially restored by means of diffuser in ring channel. Compressed air source for creating air cushions under vehicle in device for building up traction of vehicle moving along guide path with bed whose cross section is made in form of inverted T with stationary vanes of aerodynamic profile installed along entire length of guide path, and device for power interaction of air flow with above indicated vanes are combined in common set installed on vehicle and include air blower with drive, mainly electric drive, nozzle guide vane assembly and diffuser. All members of set form variable section ring channel with slot between guide vane assembly and diffuser to pass stationary vanes which are installed on ridge of bed of guide path.
