FIELD: metallurgy, possibly production of rolling rolls with bands. SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of casting metal to annular gap between outer and inner molds, moving ingot onto billet being part of inner mold whose upper part is drift; using billet with cone outer surface. Said outer mold may be moved together with cast hollow ingot. In order to provide enhanced adhesion of band and roll arbor lengthwise grooves are made on surfaces of drift and billet. Said grooves have cross section defined, for example by circle arcs. EFFECT: enhanced quality of products due to lowered thermal stresses at crystallization of embracing part such as roll band. 4 cl, 4 dwg
