FIELD: shaft furnaces for burning of lump materials, for instance, lime in manufacture of building materials, in chemical, metallurgical and other industries. SUBSTANCE: shaft furnace for burning of lump materials has refractory shaft, charging and unloading devices, and device for discharge of effluent gases. Part of shaft is equal to 0.2-0.7 of furnace height located above upper level of fuel-supplying devices is constricted. Cross-section area of this part equals 0.15-0.75 of area of shaft cross-section at the level of lower tier of fuel-supplying devices. Lower boundary of shaft constricted part is located at a distance from upper tier of fuel-supplying device equalling 0.1-0.3 of furnace height. Shaft furnace at the part between the lower constricted part of shaft and lower tier of fuel-supplying devices is widened downward. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 1 dwg
