FIELD: aerodynamic engineering. SUBSTANCE: angle of model attack is changed simultaneously with changing the roll angle is compliance with present program. The above-indicated angles are corrected by value of angular deformation of suspended facilities in vertical and roll planes. Then signals from strain-gauge balance are recorded. Aerodynamic installation has supports for fastening the model trailing-edge sting, mechanism varying the angle of attack, roll angle variation drive positioned in supports, sensors of measuring the actual angles of model attack and roll. Strain-gauge balance is positioned so that model can be coupled to sting. Method and installation described herein make it possible to determine aerodynamic characteristics of models under conditions approaching the natural ones with simultaneous reduction of aerodynamic tube operating time.
