FIELD: high-temperature superconductor engineering. SUBSTANCE: single and stranded composite conductors are based on ceramics (Bi, Pb)(2)Sr(2)Ca("), Cu(3)O(y) possessing high superconduction properties. Composite blank is deformed and then subjected to thermomechanical treatment. Prior to deforming, or during intervals between deforming procedures, blank is subjected to additional heat treatment at 780-815 C for at least 10 h. EFFECT: improved superconducting properties of conductors; five times as high critical current density measured at liquid nitrogen temperature depending on conductor design. 1 tbl
