FIELD: transport engineering; car towing gears. SUBSTANCE: device has hermetically sealed cylindrical housing 1, drum 2 with screw groove 3 for wire rope 4 and guide strip 5 secured by screws 6 inside drum, end face covers 7 in which shaft 8 with flats 9 on one end is installed with its ends. Flats serve to fix shaft 8 from turning in cover slot 10. It has also springs 11 to provide limited reciprocation of shaft between covers, bushings 12 with threaded belts 13, 14 on outer surface and projection 15 in between on which pull-back spring is secured by one end. Sides of spring are enclosed by disks 17. Bushings form axle, and disks on each bushing form wheel of device. Other end of spring 16 and disks are rigidly coupled with drum strip 5. Cams 18 installed on threaded belts 13 and 14 for engagement with strip 5 through their slots 19 are located as follows: on belt 13 on central bushing; on left-hand bushing (acc. to dwg), on both belts; and on right-hand bushing, on belt 14. Stops 23 of shaft 8 provide successive engagement of central and left-hand bushings, and stop 24, engagement of right-hand bushing with drum 2 for compressing springs 16 to solid state, when wire rope is being paid off, and prevention of sagging of wire rope when towing the car.
