FIELD: industrial inorganic syntheses. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sulfuric acid utilized in titanium dioxide production and containing metal sulfates including iron sulfates. Method consists in that ferrous sulfate contained in acid is oxidized into ferric sulfate and then hydrochloric acid is added followed by extraction of metal ions with solvent. If titanium ions are present in initial acid, extraction of Fe and Ti ions is performed separately. Hydrochloric acid is taken in such amount as to ensure chloride ion concentration in solution equal to at least 4-fold iron ion concentration. EFFECT: enhanced acid regeneration efficiency. 4 cl, 1 tbl
