FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of processing spent lithium-ion batteries, more specifically to a method of removing impurities from a leaching solution of spent lithium-ion batteries. Method of treating a leaching solution obtained from a black mass includes bringing the pH of the leaching solution to a value of approximately 1.2 to 2.15, addition of powdered iron for copper deposition, addition of lime after copper deposition, after adding lime, changing the pH of the leaching solution to approximately 6 to separate calcium fluoride, titanium hydroxide, aluminium hydroxide, iron hydroxide and iron phosphate. Black mass processing system includes an impurity removal reactor designed to receive initial sodium hydroxide, initial powdered iron and initial lime.
EFFECT: more efficient removal of impurities using less equipment and less reduction of the amount of valuable metals available for extraction.
