FIELD: waste recycling.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for recycling used lithium-ion batteries. More specifically, the invention relates to a method for removing impurities from a leach solution of used lithium-ion batteries. A method for treating a leaching solution obtained from black mass includes adjusting the pH of the leaching solution to a value from 1.2 to 2.15, adding powdered iron to precipitate copper, lime addition carried out after copper precipitation, changing the pH of the leaching solution up to 6 after lime addition to separate calcium fluoride, titanium hydroxide, aluminium hydroxide, iron hydroxide, and iron phosphate. A black mass processing system, including an impurity removal reactor designed to receive the original sodium hydroxide, the original powdered iron and the original lime.

EFFECT: efficient removal of impurities using less equipment and a smaller reduction in the amount of valuable metals available for extraction.
