FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical means for thickening liquids with low dielectric permittivity, in particular, petroleum and petroleum derivatives and can be used, for example, to suppress accidental spillage of mentioned products and to rapidly stop liquid spilling from damaged vessels or pipelines. Invention aims at developing structure-forming composition providing effectively thickening nonpolar hydrocarbons and high gel stability in presence of elevated amounts of acidic impurities. The aim is achieved when supplementing structure-forming composition containing III group (principal subgroup) metal alkoxide and sodium or potassium alkoxide with 0.05-0.10 mol of alifatic amine per 1 mol of each structure- forming composition components.
