FIELD: ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: similarly to conventional media intended for same purpose, proposed medium comprises formalin and water. Inventive novelty of proposed medium resides in fact that it additionally comprises sodium chloride and dextran having molecular weight 40,000 said components being taken in weight ratio, wt.%: - neutral 40%-formalin solution 25.0 - dextran with mol. wt. 40,000 5.0 - sodium chloride 0.9 - water balance. EFFECT: 1) proposed medium does not provoke deformation of collagenic fibrillae of donor cornea; 2) cornea's permeability for gases and metabolites is preserved; 3) any difficulties are ruled out in applying blanket suture.
