FIELD: petrochemical and oil-and-gas industries for complex check and control. SUBSTANCE: thickness of mud-and-paraffin deposits is determined by intensity of heat transfer (heat transfer coefficient) between oil being transported and inner wall of oil line. To this end, heat of oil is used as heat source and unidirectional thermal flows are measured in two heat-transfer elements mounted on outer surface of oil line at different points; temperature of outer wall of oil line is also measured at points where heat-transfer elements are mounted; temperature of oil is measured as well.
