GRASS LAWN GROWING SEED MIXTURE AND SOWING METHOD Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: seed mixture contains Kentucky bluegrass, white bent, white clover used in the following ratio, wt.-%: meadow rey grass, 32.4-30.9; red fescue, 24.3-24.7; meadow fescue, 21.6-24.3; Kentucky bluegrass, 10.2-12.3; white bent, 8.0-9.3; white clover, 0.8-1.2. Method involves holding ground supposed for sowing under fallow, with growing weeds being periodically removed; leveling and ripping soil upper layer; preparing seeds and mixing with additives; sowing and covering seeds; mulching ground and compacting soil upper layer. While preparing seed mixture, two groups are thoroughly mixed. First group contains heavy seeds of meadow rey grass, meadow fescue and white clover and second group contains light seeds of red fescue, Kentucky bluegrass and white bent. Dry coniferous saw dust may be used as additive for each group of seeds, and sand is used as additive for second group of seeds. Sowing and covering are carried out in two stages: at the first stage seeds of first group are sown and covered transverse to ground and at the second stage seeds of second group are sown longitudinally of ground. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of lawns.
