FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves moistening tobacco leaf veins; rolling tobacco mass into continuous strip. Apparatus has moistening unit, conveyor and drive roller system for producing tobacco strips. Tobacco mass is immerged into water, held for 10-15 s till moisture content reaches 14-16% and fed for rolling into strip, with water-and-air mixture being blown through water body. Apparatus is further provided with container filled with water, scraper conveyor horizontal run submerged into water in container so that it cooperates with perforated chute to feed moistened tobacco mass for producing tobacco strips.
