FIELD: polymerization catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst component containing magnesium, halogen, and titanium is prepared by dissolving dialkylmagnesium, silicon halide, and optionally alkyl halide in inert organic solvent resulting in precipitation of granulated solid product. The latter is brought in contact with titanium halide, titanium alkoxide, or titanium haloalkoxide to produce solid catalyst component, which is further activated in contact with alkylaluminum halide if, in the previous stage, titanium alkoxide or haloalkoxide are utilized.
