FIELD: oil processing. SUBSTANCE: residual fractions of oil are treated by solution of ferric chloride in ethylene glycol. The process is carried out at boiling point of ethylene glycol, quantity of ferric chloride is 0.25-4.0 moles per 1 mole of total nitrogen of origin compound. The process is followed by dilution with hexane. EFFECT: increased degree of extraction of vanadyl- and nickel porphyrins of origin compound. 1 tbl
