DRILL STRING VIBRATION DAMPENER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: drilling equipment, in particular, devices for dampening of longitudinal and torsional vibrations of drill strings. SUBSTANCE: shaft lower part has projections which run through longitudinal groove into recess, when shaft is connected with body, and may be turned there, after which, in axial motion, cams enter longitudinal grooves. Cams are made on shaft above projections with some angular displacement relative to them. Shaft in body is arranged so that formed between members of body and shaft are gaps filled with flexible material after joining of body and shaft. Upon completion of vulcanization of flexible material, joint becomes nondetachable. In operation, axial load and torque are transmitted through flexible material and longitudinal and torsional vibrations are dampened. Mounting surfaces make it possible to exclude bending of dampener. Supplied through longitudinal central channel is energy carrier or cleaning agent.
