SUBSTANCE: photoelectric potentiometer has case 1 with cover 2 and bearing-mounted shaft 3 with light beam shaping element placed coaxially relative to the latter and made in the form of light-shielding cylinder 4 around point light source 6 with slot 9 provided to pass light beam to light-sensing element 7 mounted on case 1 whose leads are connected to terminal block. Device also has segment of paraboloid 5 of revolution with ends of its side walls joined with slot 9 of light-shielding cylinder 4; point light source 6 is placed in focus of paraboloid 5 of revolution and it has light-reflecting inner surface. When axis 3 is turned through working angle smaller than 180 deg., light beam shaping element has two or more segments of paraboloid 5 of revolution and respective slots 9 are formed at their joints with side surface of light-shielding cylinder 4 to pass light to light-sensing elements 7. Number of light sensing elements 7 and segments of paraboloid 5 of revolution should correspond to number of sections formed. EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities. 2 cl, 3 dwg
