METHOD FOR TREATING PERIODONTITIS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying laser radiation combined with flap operation. The operation is carried out in three stages. To eliminate periodontium inflammation at the first stage, it is exposed to pulsating semiconductor laser radiation with 0.85-0.95 mcm wavelength, 3.0-3.5 W power, 40-100 Hz pulse repetition frequency and 90-120 s per field exposition. Three procedures are made (daily). The flap operation is carried out at the second stage in the region of pathological focus on periodontium by bending trapezoid flaps outwards on both sides of alveolar process and deepithelializing internal surface of periodontal pockets with pulsating erbium laser light having 2.94 mcm wavelength, power of 0.2-1.0 J per pulse, 10-20 Hz pulse repetition frequency. To stimulate periodontium tissue regeneration at the third stage, it is exposed to pulsating semiconductor laser radiation with 0.85-0.95 mcm wavelength, 0.5-1.0 W power, 2-3 Hz pulse repetition frequency and exposure time of 60-90 s per field. 2-3 procedures are made (each second day). EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; accelerated treatment course; lower risk of traumatic injuries.
