FIELD: production of steel ingots designed for subsequent rolling. SUBSTANCE: the offered method is based on installation of metal rod with height equalling the height of ingot mold with subsequent pouring into it of liquid melt. Novelty consists in that rod is used of Hadfield high-manganese steel, and it is installed with displacement relative to ingot mold by value determined from the relation ΔD =(0.15-0.30)D, where D is average reduced diameter of ingot mold hollow. EFFECT: rolled products made from the offered ingots in hardened state feature higher strength and ductility properties.
