FIELD: metallurgy, methods of uphill teeming of steel into ingot molds. SUBSTANCE: carbon-free heat-insulating material is used in form of material melting on poured liquid metal in 10-30 min after completion of casting and compactly added to its unmelted surface is carbon-containing material with burning temperature higher than temperature of liquid steel in ingot in the amount ensuring duration of its burning equalling 80-200% of ingot crystallization duration. In this case, weight of poured metal is reduced by 0.3-7.0%. EFFECT: higher yield of qualitative metal and simplified technology of ingot rolling. 1 tbl
