FIELD: powder metallurgy, particular, compositions of mixtures for production of porous permeable material by the method of high-temperature self-propagating synthesis applicable in manufacture of filtering members, neutralizers of exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, flame suppressors, aerators, etc. SUBSTANCE: the offered method contains, wt.%: aluminum 10.0-12.0; aluminum oxide 37.0-39.0; copper of wastes of copper article manufacture 4.0-6.0; the balance, iron scale. Components are metered in preset quantities and mixed in dry state in laboratory mixer by batches of 200 g each for 1 h. Prepared mixture was filled into metal molds, and after initiating of reaction of burning of components, samples of porous permeable material were obtained. Samples were tested for cleaning of exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. Test results have shown that content of carbon monoxide in exhaust gases was reduced by 28.0-32.0%, content of hydrocarbons was reduced by 34.0-37.0%, nitrogen oxides, by 30.0-32.0%; soot, by 52.0-60.0%.
