FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy, in particular, methods for recovery of copper from copper-containing production wastes. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing of production wastes in the form of copper scale in the amount of 57.0-60.0 wt. -%: production wastes in the form of copper powder, 33.0-35.0 wt. -%; and aluminum powder in the amount of 5.0-10.0 wt.-%, and placing of obtained mixture into molds. Then copper is melted under conditions of burning by high-temperature self-propagating synthesis with liberation of heat required for melting of mixture of components. Copper formed in reaction zone is accumulated on the mold bottom with aluminum oxide and impurities transferred into slag. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
