FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: copper-based alloy, containing (in wt %) 0.1-2.0 aluminum oxide, 0.05-0.5 hafnium oxide, 0.001-0.1 aluminum, and 0.001-0.05 hafnium, may additionally contain 0.02-0.3 titanium oxide and 0.001-0.05 titanium. Copper-based alloy powder is first prepared containing at least two metals having greater affinity to oxygen than copper. Powder is then baked in oxidizing atmosphere until its weight is increased by a value determined from experimentally obtained dependence (powder weight increment caused by alloying elements). Baked powder is briquetted and baked at 760-970 C for a time calculated from math formula given in description, after which hot deformation is performed. EFFECT: increased strength, conductance, and immunity to "hydrogen disease". 11 cl, 1 dwg , 1 tbl
