FIELD: geology, prospecting for structural-lithological hydrocarbon deposits with wide development of wedge-shaped formations. SUBSTANCE: detailed seismic prospecting operations and drilling of holes are conducted on sections with exposed wedge-shaped formations, map of isoheights of wedge-shaped formation is plotted, drilling of prospecting holes by specified profile is performed and if oil and gas presence is exposed preliminary height boundaries of its spread are established. Then prospecting drilling is carried out within these height boundaries which turns out to be more accurate as number of drilled holes grows. EFFECT: improved authenticity of process. 3 dwg , 1 tbl
