FIELD: spark-ignited internal-combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method involves formation of coating on outer surface of insulator by single or multiple thermolysis of mixture of metal carboxylates; insulator is heated in the open to destruction point of carboxylate compound, mixture is exposed to this temperature in the open, cooled down in the open each time after thermolysis operation. Use is made of cerium carboxylate which is mixed up with carboxylates of rare-earth metals, iron, and chromium based on individual or mixed alpha-branched carboxylic acids prior to coating insulator with it. Compound used for the purpose is of the following composition, mass percent: cerium oxide - at least 50; ferric oxide - 0.1 to 10; chromium oxide - 2 to 15; rare-earth metal oxides - the rest.
