FIELD: transport engineering; automobile accessories; passive safety devices. SUBSTANCE: seat belt buckle has tongue with opposite side projections and lock with protective casing and base consisting of two parts, upper and lower ones differing in cross section, rod coupled with vehicle, two spring-loaded closing members in form of plates, spring-loaded tongue pusher and spring-loaded release button with wedge projections. Rod has T-shaped portion on ends of which closing members are fitted. Closing members are provided with rectangular holes for engagement with projections of tongue and tongue pusher. Closing members are arranged in shaped holes made in lower part of base to provide engagement of hole walls with closing members for changing their angular position in plane of arrangement of torque projections. Space sufficient for accommodation of torque is formed by projections of release button fitted in upper part of base to provide acting of wedge projections of release button on closing members at longitudinal displacement of button held from falling out by projections of cover plate secured on button and engaging with lower edges of base upper part. Tongue pusher has two symmetrically arranged side projections of length equal to or smaller than tongue travel at closing the buckles made for interlocking the closing member in released position by engaging with jumpers between holes and closing members. Lock closing members are located between rib on casing and planes of release button with clearance providing engagement of closing member holes with projections of torque and tongue pusher. To provided symmetrical positioning of tongue projections relative to closing members, tongue pusher has wedge projections, and tongue has recess to suit the projection. Spring acting onto closing members is arranged in space formed by arc-shaped sections of rod and base. Hole is made in base for fitting the spring. Release button is installed for engagement with side cutouts on stop installed in lower part of base and is spring-loaded relative to stop. To provide rigidly of base at service loads in directions non-coinciding with direction of tongue, ends of T-shaped portion of rod are fitted in holes of side walls of base lower part. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of operation. 7 cl, 9 dwg
