FIELD: heat engineering, thermal physics. SUBSTANCE: process includes measurement of radiation intensities in reflected visible light on scale mock-up of body with special model coat and with it placed into photometric sphere. Material which reflection indicatrix in visible range coincides with indicatrix of reflection of actual coat of body in infrared region of spectrum is used as model coat. Photometric device records intensities of reflected radiation of each element of scale mock-up of body and reference mock-up and brightness coefficients βρ(2π,xy) are calculated by their relations. Coefficients of thermal radiation of each element of body (xy) are found by formula ε(T,xy) = 1 - βρ(2π,xy), where βρ(2π,xy) is brightness coefficient of reflection by hemispherical illumination from 2π steradian of element of observed projection of body with coordinates (xy),(ε(T,xy)) is coefficient of thermal radiation of same element of body.
