FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: aluminum alloy scrap is melted and overheated above liquidus temperature by 150-300 C, and, under continuous stirring, refining component is added, in particular, oxides of metals included in aluminum alloys: silicon, copper, and zinc oxides in quantity 1.3-2.6 times exceeding quantity stoichiometrically required to oxidize magnesium, taken either separately or together. Oxides interact with magnesium to oxidize it and convert into slag, and oxide element dissolves in metal to alloy it. EFFECT: speeded up refining process, reduced aluminum loss, and additional alloying provided. 2 cl, 2 tbl
