FIELD: measurement technology; mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has body 19, bottom 20 of which is formed by plate made of radiotransparent dielectric and intended for contact with article, radiating 4 and receiving 8 pyramidal horns positioned on bracket 26, the axes of which are directed towards plate and they cross at angle of (43 ±5) deg. in symmetry with central axis X of body. Generator microwave channel is connected to radiating horn, and detector coupled to receiving horn is connected to indicator. Bracket is attached to side walls 22, 23 of body. Facilities for minimizing of horn interference are made in the form of prismatic trap 14 and volumetric absorbing members 30, 32 with tapered parts. In this case, horns are inclined to central axis of body so that their longitudinal axes make up angle of (25±5) deg. with projections on plate surface, and plate is located in crossing zone 15 of the above-indicated axes. Prismatic trap is positioned on internal surface of plate in symmetry with axis X of body. Its rib is perpendicular to plate, and opening of edges faces horns and is positioned in zone 15. Absorbing element 30 is arranged on internal surface of plate in location zone of horns. Tapered part of absorbing element 31 overlaps zone of horn projection of plate surface for 1-3 radiation wave length. Element 32 is positioned on upper panel of body on the side of horns so that its tapered part 33 overlaps location zone of prismatic trap 14.
