SUBSTANCE: device relates to wireless communication equipment and can be used for shielding from electromagnetic radiation. The electromagnetic shield with large surface impedance has a flat metallic reflector base and two capacitance-type gratings lying in parallel under the reflector base and shifted from each other by a fraction of a period, where at least one lateral edge of the gratings is electrically connected to the edge of the reflector base. The electrical connection can be made in form of a solid metallic layer and placed on one or two opposite end faces of the shield. The electrical connection can also be made in form of single-period gratings from metallic conductors and lie on all end faces of the shield. The electromagnetic shield is an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC).

EFFECT: uniformity of impedance on artificial magnetic conductor surfaces of limited dimensions.
