FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining conditional coefficient that is calculated by dividing tissue impedance measured at low frequency of electric current by tissue impedance of the same tissue measured at high frequency of electric current. The value of conditional coefficient K1 is carried out by measuring the real tissue impedance with tetrapolar method applied in injured and intact portions of the spinal cord. The magnitude of K1 coefficient is used for making conclusions on spinal cord tissue viability degree and boundaries of the injured area, K1=1.5-1.7 in cases of normal viability degree of spinal cord tissue; K1=1.2-1.4 in cases of partially injured spinal cord tissue; K1=1.0-1.18 in cases of severely irreversibly injured spinal cord tissue. Electrostimulation of spinal cord portions under examination are carried out and K2 conditional coefficient value is repeatedly determined. The value of K2 change relative to K1 value is used for determining the limits within which the spinal cord tissues changes take place.
