FIELD: aluminum production. SUBSTANCE: in a method of producing aluminum including introduction of fluoride salts when preparing electrolyte and correcting its working composition, correction is accomplished using dried slime originated from gas-treatment stage of electrolytic aluminum production. In the course of working campaign of electrolysis, electrolyte composition is corrected by adding dried (0.1-5% moisture content) gas-treatment slime in amount ranging from 0.5 to 50% based on daily intake of fresh fluoride salts.
