FIELD: electrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: in the process of charge melting-down, with accumulation of melt, the strength of the current flowing through the melt in the horizontal and vertical directions, as well as the strength of the currents in the current leads located under the melt, are increased. Current leads oriented at an angle to one another in the horizontal plane and connected to the hearth electrodes and current control units via switching devices are located under the furnace hearth according to the number of the power source current control units. EFFECT: enhanced capacity at reduced active power in all melting periods, reduced specific consumption of electric power. 9 cl, 2 dwg
