FIELD: electric metallurgy; other industries; methods of the metal smelting in the direct current arc furnace.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the field of electric metallurgy and may be used in the direct current arc furnaces. The method provides for the charge loading, its heating and smelting-down by the electric arc at simultaneous passage of the direct current through the charge and, at least, one hearth electrode, drain from the furnace of the finished melt. At that after the drain of the melt a part of the charge of the subsequent smelt in amount of 10-20 % of the mass of the charge being loaded in the furnace is fed onto the hearth electrodes and the bottom under the roof electrode, and after its smelting they load the main part of the charge. The invention allows to make the reliable contact of the hearth bottom electrodes with the charge during all periods of the smelt, and also to increase reliability of the arc furnace operation.
EFFECT: the invention ensures the reliable contact of the hearth bottom electrodes with the charge during all periods of the smelt, the increased reliability of the arc furnace operation.
