FIELD: electrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: magnitude of current flowing through melt is periodically changed at preset duration of period; current is changed within one period. Mixing the melt is effected in accordance with periodic change of current by field of electromagnetic forces, after which ready material is drained. DC arc furnace has graphitized electrode passed through housing roof, hearth electrodes passed through housing, current regulators, electric power source which is electrically connected with graphitized electrode and current regulator and control device for changing the current which is electrically connected with regulators. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 8 cl, 2 dwg
