FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to smoke fumes formed on combustion of solid fuels and those produced in chemical industry, in particular, in nitrose or mixed contact-nitrose method of sulfuric acid production. Gases of question are cooled and subjected to impurity-absorption process by way of successively bringing gas in contact with concentrated sulfuric acid, liquid sulfur trioxide at 17- 44 C, and once more with concentrated sulfuric acid. Treated gas is released into atmosphere and absorbents with absorbed nitrogen and sulfur oxides are processed in contact-nitrose process into sulfuric and nitric acids accompanied by recycling effluent gases into purification stage together with initial smoke fumes. Absorption process is conducted under excessive pressure. EFFECT: enhanced gas- treatment efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
