FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes new method of synthesis of 1-hydroxyadamantane-4-one (immunostimulating medicinal agent "Kemantan") by oxidation of adamantanone with a mixture of concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids in the presence of catalysts. The used catalysts are metal oxides of transient valency and alkaline metal nitrites. Formed chelate compounds were decomposed by boiling in the presence of inert carriers.
