FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: method is developed for demineralizing water to be used for technical purposes, for example, in hydrometallurgy and in household practice. Method includes ion exchange with ionite affected by electric field and is distinguished by treating ion-containing solution with anionite in the cathode polarization zone and with cationite in the anode polarization zone. Regeneration of ionites is conducted while reversing polarity of electric action on corresponding ionite species and displacing ionite towards unlikely charged electrode.
