FIELD: measurement technology; hydroacoustics; hydrophysics. SUBSTANCE: fiber-optical meter made as interferometer is positioned in ocean region under test. Parts of sensitive coil fiber are secured on internal surface of hollow piezoelectric cylinders which are supplied with different carrier frequencies from electric oscillation generators. Reference coil is arranged inside ordinary cylinder which may be positioned beyond flow. Piezoelectric cylinders are fixed at known distance from each other in liquid flow under test. modulated signals at different carrier frequencies develop at photoreceiver output of fiber-optical meter. These signals are amplified and filtered by series of band-pass filters. Then signals are detected, processed and supplied to recorder which plots velocity field of liquid flow.
