FIELD: information reading and writing, in particular, for labeling heat elements of nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: method involves generation of code structure on object surface which has three-dimensional labels shaped as grooves, projection of light beam towards code structure and generation of its image on surface of photodetector by means of optical system. Information is stored in two parallel information channels which are spaced in object space along depth of code pattern. Each channel corresponds to given region. Image is generated by means of light cut. Depth of labels is greater than three-dimensional resolution and is less than definition distance of optical system. Its width is greater than its three-dimensional resolution. Light beam of is projected across labels as narrow beam which width is less than depth of grooves.
