FIELD: methods of joining metal sheets laid on each other by local plastic deformation in which interlocking joint is formed. SUBSTANCE: first, made in one sheet is depression by local pressing-out which confines the formed joint in one direction, and then sheets are compressed which are adjacent to depression by displacing the material into depression in transverse direction. The offered method is embodied by die provided with punch for building up of compression load. Punch is mounted on lower plate. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 9 cl, 7 dwg
