FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: industrial and household waste waters are treated in first settler, enriched with nitrogen and phosphorus salts and submitted to biological oxidation by microorganisms of activated sludge. The latter is then separated and a part of it is returned into biological oxidation stage. To destroy structure of excess activated sludge and to realize closed biological purification circuit, excess sludge is compacted and thermochemically destroyed at pH 1.8-4.0, 130-180 C, and pressure 0.3-1.0 MPa for 1.5 to 2.0 h. Liquid destruction product formed is returned into biological purification stage. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 1 dwg, 2 tbl
