FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to machine-tool industry and particularly to methods of installing and fixing articles during their machining. It can be applied in automatic processing lines and systems. According to method, article is positioned between clamping members which are provided with movable jaws having prismatic working surfaces. Article is brought in contact with working surfaces of jaws and is clamped by them. Prismatic surfaces of jaws follow angularity of article. Prior to clamping, jaws are moved in parallel relative to each other. In that, after article is clamped, one of working surfaces of jaws is oriented in direction of movement of work table or tool.
