FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves recording the first and the second time derivatives taken from logarithm of electric skin conductance. Trend contribution due to tonic component is determined and the first derivative value is adjusted by subtracting the trend value. Then, the first derivative pulse arrival time is determined at the moment the second derivative value surpasses a threshold value and the mentioned pulse shape is analyzed. The shape satisfying some predefined tests, the mentioned pulse is classified to phase component impulses. Otherwise, it is classified as artifact. EFFECT: high noise immunity. 11 cl, 6 dwg
