FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: orthesis has femoral shell fixable on patient femur by means of bandages, crural shell fixable on patient crus also by means of bandages. Two opposite lateral shells take position that is close to vertical one when leg is set straight, both of them are connected above the mentioned shells. Distance between both points of hinged mating reduces from maximum value when leg is set straight to minimum value when the leg is fully bent in knee joint. When moving from straight leg state to the bent-in-knee state, rotation of at least one hinge splint about its lower point of hinged mating is carried out by overcoming force counteracting rotation that grows with bending leg in knee to 30-40 deg and decreases when bending is equal to approximately 90 deg. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in restoring functions of elbow joint. 12 cl, 6 dwg
