FIELD: regenerative glass furnaces and methods of their operation. SUBSTANCE: the offered method of operation of regenerative glass furnace for glass melting and manufacture of shaped articles minimizes emission of NONOx in exhaust gases coming out of furnace having sealed regenerators acting as heat exchangers. The offered method provides for supply of fuel in excess with respect to its quantity required for stoichiometric combustion to ensure the desired quality of glass and preset output and availability of combustible material in exhaust gases leaving the furnace through regenerators. The method provides for interaction of said combustible material with sufficient quantity of air to ensure permissible levels of combustible material and NONOx in effluent gases discharged to atmosphere. Furnace may operate at considerably stoichiometric conditions, and fuel is supplied to exhaust gases when they leave the melting chamber. The invention also relates to the regenerative glass furnace for embodiment of the offered method of its operation. The invention provides for the method of burning of Co in exhaust gases leaving the regenerative glass furnace with transverse direction of flame for glass melting in approximately 8% excess of air with respect to air quantity required for combustion of supplied fuel at temperature above 650 C.
