FIELD: production of pinacoline. SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by treatment of 2,3-dimethylbutadiene-1,3 with 3-35 % solution of sulfuric acid or with 10-40 % solution of methyl phosphonic acid or with 30-60 % solution of diphosphonic acid or with 5-30 % or with acid salt of alkaline metal and said acid or by mixture of mentioned above acids with salts thereof. The process takes place at 70-170 C, it is followed by isolation of desired product. EFFECT: improved efficiency of the method. 2 tbl
