FIELD: astronomy. SUBSTANCE: method includes recording of time moments of star image observation which is performed at deviation of rated star zenith distance Zpi from standard Zr not exceeding half angle of field of vision. Time angular distance of two images of star ΔYi is measured in field of vision at recorded moments of time. Operations are carried out for four and more stars at different azimuths Ai, and astronomic coordinates are determined as sums of initial coordinates ϕo, λo and corrections Δϕ and Δλ, to them. Corrections are determined by solution of system of equations Δϕ cosAi+Δλ cosϕosinAi+ΔZ+m(ΔYi/2) = Zpi-Zr, where i ≥ 4; m, ΔZ - are image scale and systematic error, respectively, included in unknown quantities. EFFECT: higher results of measurement.
