ALCOHOL RECTIFIED PRODUCTION Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: alcohol industry. SUBSTANCE: alcohol is extracted from mash in mash-epuration column while simultaneously removing associated impurities from mash distillate by means of tapping methanol-ester-aldehyde fraction from condenser of closed column supplied and heated by vapor from upper tray and fusel- ester-aldehyde-methanol fractions from condenser of carbon dioxide separator and alcohol trap, and epurating mash distillate in epuration column involving hydroselection operation. Epurate is rectified in alcohol column while withdrawing fusel oil, fusel alcohol, and non- pasteurized alcohol fractions. Fusel oil-containing vapor from feed tray is liberated from ethyl alcohol by washing with hot water which is fed into accumulation sheet-steel cylinder disposed in middle zone of concentration part of alcohol column from which fusel oil is tapped. Liquid from tray located over accumulation sheet-steel cylinder is directed onto feed tray to isolate fraction of propyl alcohols. Final purification of rectified alcohol from methanol, esters, aldehydes, and other head impurities is performed in methanol column which is heated through external boiler by water-alcohol vapor from mash-epuration column, its condensate being fed into middle zone of digestion part of epuration column. From condensate, liquid fraction is isolated which, together with fractions from condensers of epuration and alcohol columns is directed onto upper tray of closed column, into middle zone of which, fractions from condensers of carbon dioxide separator, alcohol trap, and mash preheater are fed, whereas, from condenser of closed column, head fraction of ethyl alcohol is drawn off.
